Accelerate4KIDS® is a 501c3 nonprofit organization dedicated to equipping Detroit youth in under-resourced communities with the necessary skills for opportunities in computer science and STEM fields. Collaborating with Accelerate4KIDS, I study the optimal integration of GenAI in K-12 classroom and how GenAI can help reduce educational inequality among K-12 students from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds .
Tinker Education is a large-scale non-profit project aimed at underserved children in rural China. From 2023 Summer to 2024 Winter semester, Tinker has served 19,179 students from 254 schools and community centers. In the Tinker program, students complete challenging scientific and engineering tasks using readily accessible materials from the environment, embodying the "learning by tinkering" philosophy.
Collaborating with Tinker, SANY Foundation, and Lenovo Foundation, I research how to motivate the core innovation of the younger generation through a variety of operational interventions, such as in-classroom instructions, digital classroom, and GenAI tutor.
In 2024 Spring, we have equipped ten Tinker learning sites in rural China with smart devices and GenAI tutor.
